Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and Everton defender Phil Jagielka are the surprise inclusions for Fabio Capello’s England squad to face the USA and Trinidad & Tobago.
The uncapped duo have been named in Capello’s 31-man squad for the games on May 28 and June 1 along with Blackburn’s Stephen Warnock and Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone as Capello looks to experiment further before the start of the World Cup qualifiers on September 6.
Theo Walcott is also named in the squad but the 19-year-old will feature in the England U21’s friendly against Wales in Wrexham a week on Thursday before joining up with the senior squad.
Hart, 21, joins David James and Chris Kirkland in the squad just one year after signing for Manchester City from Shrewsbury Town whilst Jagielka has also impressed in his first season at Everton having made a £4m from Sheffield United in the summer.
Dean Ashton and Dean Wheater have also earned recalls after impressing in the closing stages of the season.
All bar the nine players on Champions League duty with Chelsea and Manchester United will meet on May 22.
