Fabio Capello’s England side have finalised their World Cup qualifying fixture list and straight away, Capello’s language skills will be put to good use.
England start their campaign with an away tie against Andorra on September 6 before heading out to Croatia, the side that knocked them out of the European Championship, four days later.
The Andorra game is likely to be switched to Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium as the 1,800 capacity home stadium of the Pyrenees principality would not be suitable to host the tie, giving Capello a great opportunity to display the Spanish skills that he learnt in such a short time at Real Madrid.
After the Croatia game, Britain’s tabloid writers will be at the ready with their ‘Borat’ jokes as Kazakhstan travel to Wembley in October, with the return match in June 2009 in Almaty.
England then head to Minsk to face Belarus for their last qualifying match in 2008, and Capello’s side will end their campaign against Belarus on 14th October 2009 at Wembley.
England’s difficult trip to Kiev to face Ukraine takes place on Saturday October 10th 2009.
