No Capello at Cup Draw

Fabio Capello will not be drawing the fourth round of the FA Cup, the FA has confirmed.

The draw fourth round of the FA Cup will take place on Monday, Capello’s first day in his new role at Soho Square, but the Football Association have confirmed that the Italian will not be involved in making the draw.

The draw would have given the perfect chance for Capello to meet with club officials and members of the press, as well as giving him the perfect opportunity to put his language learning into practice, or at least his grasp of English numbers.

However the FA may have had their decision influenced after an embarrassing blunder in the draw for the third round draw.

It appeared to television viewers that Arsenal legend Sammy Nelson had mistaken ball number 25 for number 24, pairing Aston Villa with Manchester United, rather than Middlesbrough.

Later in the draw, Nelson appeared to conceal the number printed on the ball as he drew what he claimed to be number 25, handing Middlesbrough a trip to Bristol City.

The FA claim that the drawing of the balls was done correctly although inconclusive video footage has done little to silence to sceptics.

Just so that there’s no confusion, here are some of the numbers that could appear in Monday’s draw:

1 – Uno - Arsenal
2 – Due - Aston Villa
3 – Tre - Barnsley
4 – Quattro - Birmingham City
5 – Cinque - Blackburn Rovers
12 – DodiciChelsea

24 – VentiseiManchester United
